Decorating Ideas For Little Girls Rooms

Every little girl has their own unique style but most center around little butterflies, animals of some kind, trellises, floral fabric prints, and more. Adding simple patterns and designs such as these can turn your little girls’ room into a safe haven that she can call her very own. Imagine stenciling vines, butterflies, flowers and other beautiful accents on her wall and highlighting it by painting colors that will blend in and coordinate with other accents. You can add the final touch to the window by placing a soft curtain to blow in the summer breeze.

If you want to create a beach theme you can use some simple decorations to achieve that look. You need to add blue on the walls, sandy brown shade on the floor, and skies with clouds up on the ceiling. Use art work of beach scenes to give you ideas.

Another theme for a little girl is called the Starlight theme. This is becoming more popular with every little girl. To help you decorate right, you will find wallpaper, bedding, rugs of different sizes and more with this pattern already on it. Boys can also use these themes as well but for girls you can add bright pastels colors to make it more feminine. Using star pieces is a must; use rubber sponges and stamps dipped in paint to add different designs to the room. Make a star border as well to help decorate the room or as a decoration on furniture. You may want to add a star shaped rug to her floor to complete the look.

Another great theme for girls is the moon. You can decorate the ceilings a dark midnight blue and paint stars on the ceiling as well. You can purchase the glow-in-the-dark starts that can light her room at night. You can add the stars on bookshelves or even a treasure chest. Put an iron on of the moon on the headboard to light her way at night.

Flowers are another great feminine style. Sunny yellows, watermelon pinks, lime greens, and bright oranges are great colors to establish this retro look of the 60s. Colorful fabrics and borders are essential, ideally featuring basic shapes of flowers in bright colors that can be matched with basic fabrics for valances, ruffles, and pillows for a window seat. Shapes of flowers can also be blown up with a Xerox machine, in order to be randomly traced onto the walls and wild colors should be used as paint to coordinate it with the available fabrics.

Girls also tend to love the sun, so why not paint a picture of the hills with a peeking sunrise at the top? Bright colors for quilts and beddings are preferred, while green rugs can look like grass and the ceiling can be painted in a soft sky blue. Waking up to this beautiful theme is sure to please any young girl, as it gives off a cozy look of summer.

Another great theme for your daughter would be a cottage style theme, especially if most of her furniture is second-hand. A lot of white colors will be needed for this theme, as well as light colors like sky blue, pink, and pale green.

It’s important to focus on her needs and choices at this critical time in her life. You want to create a look that is all her own, one that will leave her feeling comfortable and happy when she is in her room.

Interior Decorating has never been so easy with these girls area rugs.

Rooms For Older Girls Tap Into Newfound Interests

Let’s face it: Decorating a room for your younger daughter can be almost a snap. But what about her older sister?

As you know they may not be into the dress up and still too young for the make-up so what do you create in their room as a design? Well it can seem quite difficult at first but in the end you’ll create a great room for them to enjoy no matter if they aren’t your baby girl anymore.

Choosing a few colors to design the room around may be the easiest way to go. Paint the walls one color, choose another for the window treatment, another for the bedding and you’re done! You can flip flop whenever necessary and still have an awesome design to grow into no matter your age.

Animal Mania: Many girls of late childhood and early adolescence develop deep bonds with animals. This is a period in which many of them decide they want to be veterinarians. Whether that ambition will hold through her dating years, there’s nothing wrong with indulging her with a bedroom decor that reflects her love of creatures great and small. Whether it’s cats, dogs, horses, bunnies, even pigs, if animals are her love then surround her with them in borders, artworks, and furniture. Colors can range across the spectrum from pastels through mediums and brights.

If you have a sports lover on your hands you may want to create a room around sports. Choose their favorite sports such as basketball, soccer, or even football and design a room. It’s quite simple to find sport themed ideas for rooms even if it is a girl! Many ideas now come in pink which is great. Make sure to keep plenty of shelves for her awards as she grows! She’ll love to walk in and see her accomplishments on display.

If your daughter is still into fairy tales such as the prince and princess theme it is quite simple to create an older addition to this. Using pastel and stenciled flowers on the walls along with ivy they’ll have their own secret garden to call their own.

Maybe your daughter is one of those whom feel as if she’s already a teenager when in fact she still has a couple of more years. Try using a French look with many black and white checkered fabrics in her room with some great French themed art on the wall. On the other hand maybe you want to create that shabby chic look for your child. Look for furniture which has a bit of wear and a great vintage slip cover for a chair in her room and she’ll be set for a few years when she becomes that teen she wants to be so bad!

Make Your Girl’s Bedroom Her Most Favorite Place On Earth

There are more design options now for a girl’s bedroom that range from the traditional pink and ruffles to the more trendy sports and outdoors.

Knowing what your girl likes the most certainly helps. Make her bedroom a place she will love to spend time in. It’s not just about a comfortable and relaxing space but one that reflects her personality too. Ask her what she likes to have around.

Don’t be afraid to steer her in the direction of a less-expensive decorating scheme if the budget is an issue in these tough economic times. Kids are a lot more perceptive than we give them credit for, but they don’t need to know all the details. Just explain that you’ll be working within a decorating budget, and that you’ll get to make choices together.

Beach Gal: If you live near the ocean, or she delights in retelling tales from your seaside vacation, consider a beach theme for her room. Think ocean blues for the walls, sandy colors on the floor, and a bright blue sky with puffy clouds. Look for a wallpaper border full of seashells or a beach-themed area rug and key the color scheme to it. Some real seashells or an art print will set the mood for beach-house-style furniture.

Stars-inspired decorations are beautiful for a girl’s room. Day in and out, she will be surrounded with stars. Stardust, star images, cut out pictures and sponge painted star borders in the room are recommended designs. A star-shaped area rug is also an instant eye-catcher. To make the room cozy, paint the ceiling a midnight blue and decorate it with glow in the dark stars. Complete the sky vision with images of the moon and some wispy clouds.

A popular theme among girls is the fairy tales or fantasy decor. Who hasn’t adored fairy tale princesses, magical creatures, fairies, prince charming and other lovely characters in a fairy tale? This is where the soft colors of pastels come in. Light shades are also very much welcome even in the hues of blue or green. You can accent the walls with a painting of the woodland, lake, waterfalls and meadows. An area rug in a romantic pink or other feminine color is an ideal fit.

Fairy Tale Cottage: When the decorating scheme includes some gently used furniture, consider turning her bedroom into a fairy-tale cottage. You could give her an all-white room, including painting the furniture, and then add interest and variety by changing out the room’s accessories in different colors periodically. Be sure to use a semi-gloss paint on the walls for easier clean-ups.

Fluttering By: There’s no doubt about it: Butterflies are big with little girls. What’s more, in the past few years butterflies have become big in home decor as well. That makes it easy to transform your daughter’s bedroom into a butterfly sanctuary. Turn her walls into a garden scene with dozens of butterflies and chose butterfly designs for window treatments and bedding and a butterfly area rug for the floor. Here’s a nice touch: Get some butterfly hair clips and attach them to her curtains, lampshades and other places.

Our best hint for Home Decorating, is to use area rugs – and the girls rugs will suit any modern furnishings.

A Retro Teen’s Room for Girls

The 60’s were a time of tie & dye, flower power, Woodstock and peace symbols. This was the time of the hippie. Decades on, it’s evident that the hippie fad still hasn’t died down and continues to make a come back over the last few years. And it’s currently all the rage with teens all over. If your teen is showing signs of that retro spirit, why not give her a room that will let her shine in all her hippie glory.

Because the 60’s used bold colors you can also decorate using these colors. Take her walls for example, you can choose to do a block design on one wall. Create blocks and outline them with masking tape and then tape. Allow to dry before you remove the tape. When dry you should have a creative wall that is very retro. Add some personal touches to the look by painting daisies on the wall.

Now it’s time to furnish her room. To do this you will need to keep in mind that in the 60’s it was about being playful so you can use bean bag chairs or blow up chairs. Paint all wood furniture white. Next you want to take down the light fixture and add the disco ball. To finish the touch you want to add some 60’s music so she can listen to it and get into the spirit. No retro room will be complete without a lava lamp. You can find a lot of retro decor at discount stores. Don’t forget the incense sticks to place on her night stand to help her relax when she is listening to her music.

No retro room would be complete without a shag area rug. The 60’s did display their area rugs in style and comfort. You can find an area rug in different colors. The right color in an area rug can bring balance and harmony to her room.

When you are looking for wall art you can add some vintage classic rock and roll album covers. Hang them on the wall. Then she will have Lennon and The Rolling Stones on her wall.

When you are ready to decorate her cushions you want to use a tie dye look. This is an easy project that you can do at home together. Take some plain white linen and turn it into a bright bold color to add to her room.

One more thing to remember when using the retro style; the hippies believed that it was important to use the freedom of expression. So you want to incorporate that in her decor and allow her personality to become part of the decor.

The Ideal Little Girl’s Room On A Budget

Little girls are made of sugar and spice and all things nice. These things are never expensive, so your little girl’s room does not have to be either. Even if you are a little cash-strapped, you can still give your little girl a room she can enjoy being in and growing up in. You can design a room that is full of character and is comfortable, which will be her special place.

You want to start with the walls. You can give the room an instant makeover just by painting the walls. Use a color that she likes, for example, a soft pastel lilac or pink. Then purchase some stick and peel reusable appliques that you can place on her walls like around the light switch. You can move these anytime you want to.

She probably has a collection of stuffed animals that you can display on shelves. If shelves are too expensive you can purchase a pet net that hooks on the corners of the walls.

For her lighting, buy a new lampshade in her favorite shade of pink. You will find many different pretty and stylish designs at bargain prices in discount stores. You may also add fun to the room by opting for pink light bulbs.

When it comes to her floors you can add a beautiful area rug. These can be found online for a wide variety and a good deal. You can choose a heart shape or flower shaped area rug on the floor. These rugs are also affordable.

You don’t have to throw out all her old stuff and replace them with new stuff. Take her bedspread, for example. You can do it up by adding lace onto the edges of her comforter. Throw pillows are cheap and you could get a couple and pile them onto her bed for both comfort and style. Get throw pillows in varying shapes, sizes, colors and textures to complete the look in her room.

Window treatments can be made simple. Use sheer panels in a variety of colors. You can create a beautiful look by taking your pastel sheers and placing them on the outer edge of the windows. Then use an interlocking looped waterfall valance or scarf valance. These do not cost a lot of money but they are absolutely beautiful.

Remember that you can get a beautiful look for your little girl at an affordable price.

Girls love to pretend that they are a princess. They can picture themselves as a princess in a magical fairy world. You want to make their fantasy’s come true so you need to give her a princess themed room.

Start decorating the room by painting her walls. Pink is usually the princess color of choice but maybe she would like another color. You can highlight the room with pink instead, for example, the shades. Compliment the color with silver or a pastel color; lavender or pink shades. If you choose wallpaper then it is not as permanent. You may choose to paint the walls and then add a mural of her favorite princess. You simply peel and stick the decals on the all and her fairy world is instantly created.

The bedding and the curtains should be in princess decor. Disney princess decor can be very expensive so instead of paying these high prices you can just make it yourself. Find some princess fabric at any store or online. Buy some rhinestones and fabric glue. Now cut, glue and decorate and your done.

You can search for an area rug that features a princess theme. You may have to look closer to get the princess that she wants like Snow White. You can even find an area rug that features a deer in the woods. An area rug is so comfortable she could hold a tea party with Alice In Wonderland.

You can add your personal touch by placing posters in a frame to hang on the wall. You may also accessorize with a magic slipper, tiaras, or a wand.

Dolls are an important part of her imagination. You can display a variety of dolls in her room but make sure to include her favorite princess characters. You can purchase fairy tale books and place colorful covers on them to sit around her room. Line the shelves to top the look.

For her bed, opt for a princess castle bed. This will be her very own fortress. It may be best to have this custom made such that you can include all the extra features your princess desires. These may include towers which double up as storage facilities such as shelves or a wardrobe. A bunk bed can be built into the upper loft. Open out the lower area to create a play area or study space.

Her princess room can be a reality with just a few simple and easy decorating tips.

Creating A Fairy Tale Room

What could be more wonderful than to provide your princess with a room that will drive her imagination? Pink satin, lush velvets, gold and silver accessories and dark wooden furnishings will set this room apart from any other, truly making your princess feel special.

First to get the right setting for the rooms try painting the walls a nice pink that is soft or even a soft purple. These colors make the room seem rich and elegant, like a princess should feel in her room. You should also do this because it will help to balance out the dark furnishings you will need to make the look pop inside that room. A lovely mural with a princess in it, or something that makes you feel pretty is a great idea to put up on the wall.

Try and use a lot of pinks, purples and even teals for the added decor in the room. All of these colors shout out the royal look. Curtains would be best in a velvet material, which will also help save on heating and cooling bills because it’s nice and think. The velvet will block out the sun nicely allowing you to sleep better and deeper.

Area rugs should be added into this princess fairy tale look too. Plus the rug will add a nice warmth on your feet when you get up on those cold mornings. And with the rug it will also quite down the noise when you walk in your room. A nice print on the rug will add a nice look into the room try finding one that is medieval in looks it will make the room great.

Medieval is the look that will best make the room look like a fairy tale princess’s room; with the addition of a nice dark wood for the bed and possibly a four post bed if you can afford it. This will have the room looking like the perfect place for a princess to lay her head down at night.

For some good deals on furnishing you should try and go to discount stores, goodwill’s, flea markets and garage sales. Even if you don’t find the exact thing you were hoping for you may come up with some very inexpensive items that will work great in your fairy tale decor. Check out sales on the internet too and see if they have some great choices for you to use in the new room. Some places even have a program where people are wanting to trade for other items. With all these different options you may well create that fairy tale look without spending a lot of money.

Sometimes these changes are actually improvements. By making changes to furnishings you personalize them. When making changes add silver and gold decorations to give a royal air to your design. Another way to add these touches is by using silver and gold chains as curtain tie backs. Even small touches will add to the ambiance of the room.

These added touches make the ambiance of the room just right. But with any design you don’t want to overdo the look either. It will only serve to make the room look worse and cheap. So go about making the princess room perfect by adding just enough to it.

Decorating Your Own Fairytale Land

February 11, 2010 by Robin Wilson

So your little girl is your princess, how about changing her bedroom into her own fairytale land? It won’t cost you as much as you might think. Budget yourself and get some inexpensive things and you can soon give your little girl a room that she will love. Use of velvets, pink satin, and some dark wood furnishings will soon have a fairytale look.

The first step to making the fairytale land is to remove all the furnishings from the room. Pick either a soft pink color or even nice light lavender, paint the walls. These colors will match the dark wood that you want to furnish the room in. Plus either color will work great if you want to add a fancy looking fairytale mural to the wall.

Accessories are easy try sticking to colors like teal, pink and purple. These colors will all have the room bursting with energy but still not making it seem like too much. For a curtain velvet is your best choice. It will keep the sun out and provide some extra insulation to the room.

Another great way to enhance the fairytale theme and give it a touch of elegance is to use a themed area rug. A magenta area rug around the foot of the bed or a thick white rug near the dresser gives a richer, more textured feel to the space. This also dampens various sounds including those of footsteps to make the room quieter and calmer. You could even have designs like a royal crest or a tiara painted on an area rug for a really regal touch.

In a fairytale bedroom the best bed is one that is a four post bed, and made from dark wood. But if you have lighter furniture you can stain it darker to save some money. You can also hang your own canopy from a bed; this will make your princess feel special.

Recycling or restoring old furniture is a great idea for this theme. Old pieces can be had for cheap at used furniture stores, and the aged look gives each item the feel of a real heirloom. Beds, chairs and even small trunks can be cheaply added to the decor this way.

Painting the trim in gold or silver will add a fantastic royal feel to the room, and get some fake pearls to hold back the curtains. Adding in a mirror and painting some gold on the frame will also have your princess feeling beautiful. Give your daughter the fairytale princess room of her dreams.

A Girl’s Bedroom Can Be Her Own Wonderland

February 5, 2010 by Dillan Foster

If you and your daughter are planning her room makeover, we’ve met at the right time. I will be enumerating the best choices for a decorating theme for girls’ bedroom. You and your girl might find one that suits her personality and interest.

Girls are particularly fussy about their rooms. Color is of the utmost importance. Girls understand at an early age that color affects their feelings. Girls are also more prone to hosting sleepovers so it is important that their room is a positive reflection to other girls. Light hues in pink, purple and green are especially popular with girls. The trend this year is to add white to the classic colors. The themes for girl rooms tend to be more romanticized and more connected to nature.

Girls are more particular with accessories than boys are. The details too matter to them hence, wall paint can be enhanced by artworks and other decorations. If the room’s theme is nature, the wall can be colored light green with drawings of trees, spring water and flowers. Adding accents like flowers in a pretty vase and a hanging plant by the window can complete the look.

The next two themes are based on the night sky. The first theme is starlight. There are so many fabrics, wallpapers and bed linens with star patterns. A star quilt will compliment the decor.

Working this in the room takes only a little imagination. We see this almost every night so you only need to copy. The ceiling can be painted a midnight blue instead of black (unless your girl is a rock star at heart), paint a yellow-streaked moon and add glittering stars.

Flowers are a big hit among girls (and women!). Floral wallpaper is a nice backdrop and flower artworks are pretty decors. Flower theme can also be shown in bed sheets, curtain, pillow covers and comforter. If the wall is painted, choose a bright color or the color of her favorite flower. Painting pictures of flowers too with butterflies and bees will create a bountiful garden in your girl’s room. With the real flowers as decorative items, the feeling will seem so real!

A homely theme welcomed by girls is the cottage-inspired room. There is the use of wood materials here and lots of light, pastel colors. Buying a wooden chair and table can be affordable by purchasing them at a thrift shop or a flea market.

To complete the look, area rugs come to the rescue. An ocean theme can be highlighted by a rug in green or blue color. A moonlight or starlight theme can be adorned with an area rug with a similar design. There are rugs in bright colors and printed floral designs for a nature/flower theme and country home inspired look.

Share this decorating adventure with your daughter. She’ll have fun choosing things for her bedroom. The best thing is giving her the chance to help you in beautifying her bedroom, and her giving you the chance to be part of changing her personal space.

Home Decorating experts all agree that it is essential to use area rugs. And as discussed here one of the most popular ranges is the girls room area rugs.

Redecorating Your Daughter’s Room

January 25, 2010 by Abbie Osborne-Wilson
Filed under Bedroom

Last night at the dinner table your young daughter announced, “Suzy Smith is getting her room decorated and I want my room decorated too.” Mom and Dad look at each other and an unspoken agreement is reached. “OK,” Mom says, “we’ll talk about it after dinner.” And just like that, a re-decorating project is born.

As projects go, there can be no more fun project than a mother and daughter re-decorating the little girl’s bedroom. The project will require many hours of planning, take many days to accomplish, and give them many years of enjoyment. As with all decorating projects, this one must have a theme to build around. The main theme can come from something the little girl is particularly interested in, some subject or character she especially likes. It may be space or Snow White or Toy Story or horses.

She may have several “best choices” and need some help from Mom in narrowing down the options. Magazine pictures, TV programs, books can all offer suggestions to consider. At some point, through some process, a theme will be chosen. If some items are to be kept from her room’s current furnishings, the bed, for example, you might start building the theme around them. New bed coverings highlighting the chosen theme could be a starting point.

Choose items, furniture and colors that reflect the theme. A safari theme will look great with area rugs and beddings in animal prints and artworks of wild animals. A nature park theme will look realistic with colors of nature, particularly shades of green and blue. The ceiling can also be painted so it will match the area rugs and other decors.

If the bed is to be replaced, its place could be taken by a themed bed. Furniture can be ordered directly from the manufacturer to save money. The headboard could be covered in polyester batting and fabric printed with the theme or the headboard could be a bookcase for the display of gadgets and memorabilia and pictures.

If you or your daughter is quite an artist, mural painting is a wonderful idea. It will add character to the walls and thus, the room. If not and your little girls is still interested, there are artists who specialize in mural painting.

Don’t worry about your little girl outgrowing her re-decorated room-she will. Walls can be re-painted, bed coverings replaced. Another growing-up stage can be accommodated by another re-decoration. There will be time enough later to deal with that change. For now, just think of the excitement and fun you two will have planning and accomplishing this project. And picture the look of joy on your little girl’s face when she exclaims, “Mom, I love it! I absolutely LOVE it!
