Say Hello To Your Toddler’s Bedroom

How fast time flies…now your baby crawls like Schumacher drives his car and walks like a supermodel in the making. The months of incessant carrying and cuddling are replaced by running after each other and catching your breath most of the time. The baby is now a toddler. It’s also a telling sign of a renovation for your baby’s room.

The crib goes out and in comes the bed. Toddlers are hyperactive and if they can only make decisions for themselves, they would probably rally on “no sleep and play all day!” chant. So make your toddler’s room as relaxing as possible to stimulate sleep. It’s hard enough as it is to put toddlers to sleep without the rich and bright colors, so just imagine how the colors yellow or red can do to a child’s awakened state. Go for the calming shades of pastels, tans, blues, lavenders and creams. Anything to encourage sleep, bring it on!

A child’s bedroom is usually also the playroom. Spare an area for play where you can put the toys. As your little one becomes more aware of the surroundings, maximize the use of interactive toys to develop your baby’s motor and coordination skills. These toys will also give your baby’s brain an added boost.

Use area rugs to designate the spaces needed. For instance, you can place a rug where your child plays the most; a rug for her dollhouse; a rug for his train set, or an area rug for drawing or looking at pictures while settled comfortably on the floor.

Finally letting go of the nursery and preparing for a toddler room is exciting and yes, emotional. Your baby is growing up! In a few years, you will again be redecorating for a preschool kid and saying goodbye to a toddler sanctuary. So don’t use anything too permanent. You might regret it for the hard work you have to do later on.

Don’t be ripped off by imitations. Be sure to buy authentic kids area rugs directly.

Imaginative Themes Spark Boys’ Decor

When you need to redecorate your little boys’ room you want to be inspired by something he likes; a sports hero, an artist, or maybe a fantasy that he reacts over and over. He spends hours playing so why not make his room decor fit in with his imagination.

Eye on the Ball: Home decorators will hardly ever go wrong choosing a sports theme for a boy’s room. Anything with a ball in it is likely to draw a little guy’s interest. Plus, the spherical shape of most balls lends itself nicely to colorful area rugs that give a room focus. If your son has a favorite team, so much the better; you can paint the room in team colors. Furniture, wallpaper and fabrics in sports themes are readily available, and you can finish off the room with accessories of the sport’s equipment.

Rainbow Bright: Perhaps your son shows artistic tendencies, or maybe he just likes bright colors. Go for the gold (and blue and green and …) by using bright colors everywhere. If the room has wall-to-wall carpeting, start by choosing a wildly colorful area rug, and take your color cues from that. Paint each shelf of a bookcase a different color corresponding to the color theme. Color up the bedroom furniture in the same way. Remember, paint is the most inexpensive way to design a room, so don’t be shy about using it lavishly.

Yo-Ho, Yo-Ho – That’s right, your little boy may love to be a pirate. Decorate with a scene from “Treasure Island” or “Peter Pan” or even “Pirates of the Caribbean”. When decorating with this theme you need to start with an ocean blue. Then add your sailing shops and netting. Don’t forget to paint a porthole on the wall. Decorate around the room with treasure boxes so he can store little treasures away.

A Knight’s Tale: This theme will take some real artistic talent but you can do it if this is the look your son wants. You can paint flying pennants on the walls or even a tall castle. You may need to read the book about The Tale of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round table” for your inspiration.

Do the Locomotion: Grown-ups think of them as merely transportation, but youngsters see trains (and planes and automobiles) as the purveyors of wonder. You can choose a single theme or combine them for an overall transportation look. Most of these designs use bright primary colors, especially for traffic signals and railroad crossings. Some kind of transportation border around the walls works well. Beds shaped like cars, planes and trains are all available.

Do The Locomotion – When your little boy thinks of the phrase “Do the Locomotion” they think of trains, planes, and of course automobiles. There are two different ways to do this theme; a single theme or a combination. You can use a transportation border to go around the top of the room. Ride ‘em, Cowboy – The fun of pretending to be back in the wild, wild west. This theme is a classic and is still popular today. Create curtains by using a red and blue bandanna. You can also look for a western themed wallpaper to add to the walls. The wallpaper should have horses, ropes, and of course cowboys. You can purchase a bedside lamp in a boot base.

Best Recommendations On Deciding Upon Your Furnishings For Smaller Room

If your bedroom is small you’ll want to arrange and design it to be space efficient as well as comfortable and attractive. If you don’t go overboard with the decorations you’ll be able to use these tips to make your small bedroom into a great living area.

The first thing you should do is toss out all that furniture you don’t want anymore. These pieces take up a lot of space in a small bedroom, and just make it look cramped and small. So which pieces of furniture are essential for a small bedroom? You have to have a bed, table and chair, wardrobe, shelf and a mirror.

You’ll want to stick with compact furniture that isn’t heavily decorated. Something with a simple outline is best, it will fit into the room more easily and have a “clean” look. A table that can fold up and be stored against the wall is ideal for a small bedroom.

A box bed is another great idea for small bedrooms, it gives you extra storage in an furniture item that’s already vital to the room. A headboard that includes shelving is a great idea for a small bedroom.

Some throw pillows or a decorative rug under the wardrobe will add a lot of character to a small bedroom design without taking up any extra space.

Try to stick with neutral colors when coming up with a design for your small bedroom. A splash of darker color here and there is good, but keep the majority colors light and neutral. White with a splash of color is good for bedding, rugs and shelf borders.

White laminates with a hint of color on the furniture is also a good choice. Choose colors like olive green, purple, chocolate brown or silvery grey. If you don’t want to use white you can also go with a light cream, beige, or a very light yellow.

It’s also good to have a decorative mirror with a suitable amount of space in front of it in your small bedroom. You’ll also want to make sure that the room is well lit.

Consider these tips and think of ways you could design your small bedroom. Keep the essentials in and kick the excess to the curb and soon you’ll have a comfortable, organized space.

Your Bed Could Be What Is Keeping You Awake At Night

How many nights a week would you say that you really sleep very good? Do you toss and turn off and on all night and wake up still tired and cranky too? If you are not having some emotional reason that is causing it, then you have to consider it could just be your bed. A bad mattress is one of the leading causes for sleepless nights and there are so many ways you can remedy the problem without having to go out and buy a brand new mattress set.

Sometimes when a mattress gets some age on it, several years or more, they can become uncomfortable even though you might have really loved it when it was brand new. The mattress can change or your own body can change over time too as we all know. When you are really losing sleep at night because you can’t get comfortable, you will have to redo some parts of your bed in order to get a good night’s rest again.

A memory foam mattress pad could be your salvation for sleeping. It contours to the body the way no regular mattress or mattress pad can do. When you lie in one position and then move, the memory foam simply fluffs back out exactly the way it was. It gives relief to those body pressure points like the elbows, shoulders and hip bones. When you are not waking up cramped up in certain areas of the body, you are likely to rest better and longer at a stretch without waking up. It is worth every dime you will pay for it!

If you are still sleeping on the same pillow you had five years ago, then this could also be part of your problem. When a pillow becomes flat from wear, it is time to change it out. A pillow should also be hypoallergenic because of dust mites and other bacteria that can build up in it over time. Pillows can be great when you first buy them, but sometimes even after just a few weeks they will not feel as good as when you first bought them. Investing in a quality pillow or two is for the best if you don’t want to wake up with neck cramps.

Sometimes doing something as simple as elevating your bed at the top with bed risers or lifters can help some people sleep better. Acid reflux and snoring is common and an elevated head of the bed is said to often be helpful. Older people sometimes need the head of their bed elevated to help breathing be easier and reduce chances of strangling in their sleep. You must have a comfortable bed if you want to have good sleep. When the fixes are this easy and this inexpensive you really should get it done.

Decorating The Playroom Through Your Child’s Growing Years

Creating a playroom that will grow with your children is not difficult. Your child’s first playroom will be when they are toddlers. Their space will need to be colorful, inviting, safe and have lots of storage space for their toys.

As your child outgrows the toddler years, the playroom will also have to outgrow the toddler decors. The new look will depend on your child’s needs and growing interest in different things.

Then, moving into the preteen years the room will again need a major overhaul to match your child’s growing needs and interests. The last change will be for your teens and should at this point double for the adults. Now the playroom becomes an entertainment room. As your child grows so do their interests and their toys get bigger and more expensive. Your playroom needs to change with them.

A room makeover to keep up with the changing phases is easy to do. Appropriate decorations, furnishings, artworks and colors have a big impact on the overall look of the room.

Area rugs for instance, can transform the room in a snap. As a toddler’s playroom, it will look best with colorful, ultra soft and thick area rugs for your child’s safety too.

As the child moves into the elementary school age, their interests have changed and they have favorite characters, or sports activities or perhaps dance or horse back riding. There are area rugs that have whimsical design and colors that will blend easily with their many interests.

The same goes for area rugs that are suitable for teenagers. With the numerous selections, there are area rugs that can live up to any teen’s finicky and ever-changing taste. Mostly, rugs designed with sports and music themes are popular choices.

Here are some tips in decorating with an area rug.

Place a runner and an accent rug in an area that follows the lines of the wall to create a balanced look. If you have two or more rugs, make sure that they are of the same tone to create a look of harmony in the room. Entering this living space will instantly give an impression of relaxation.

If you or your child prefers to have more than one rug in the playroom, go for similar colors or those belonging to the same shade. This will match better with the room and will create a clean line with the rest of the furnishings. Decide if you want pastel shades, earth colors, bright or dark tones.

Choosing the right size is just as important. You wouldn’t want a too large rug for a teeny-weeny room or a too small rug for a big room. Measure the allotted space before going to the store to buy the rug. Different areas may require different rug sizes too, so decide first in which part of the room the rug will be placed. Having measurements will make shopping for the rug easier and faster.

Simple changes in decorations like the area rugs will make changes in your child’s playroom a breeze.

Children’s Interior Design has never been this easy with these rugs. Be sure to take a look at this childrens rugs for the latest information.

There are a lot more people nowadays that are starting to decorate their bedrooms and beds with fancy decorated pillows. It is no longer just the women that go for these types of bedroom decorations.

You can still have a good night sleep in your bedroom but with the added bonus of the bedroom looking nice and stylish too.

We are not saying that you have to go out and find the fanciest pillow that you can find to make your bedroom look attractive. But there is no reason why you cannot go out and find something that can compliment the rest of your bedroom furniture.

Yes pillows have to be nice and comfortable in order for you to get the rest that you need. You can also make them look nice and tasteful in an aesthetic kind of way. You may wonder why you should need to have fancy pillows when nobody else is going to see them. But it is just a case of personal taste I suppose.

If however you have a neck pillow then it is unlikely that you will find one that is decorated in any particular way.

This is more of a health choice than one of appearance. Your health must take priority in this case. But you can still look at other ways to make the bedroom nicer.

There are still however many people out there that think that pillows that are decorated are somehow not as comfortable as the everyday pillows that you can buy. But if this is the case then why do all the hotel rooms always seem to be adorned with fancy pillows on their beds?

Whenever you enter one of the fancy hotel bedrooms you are always greeted with fancy decorative bedroom pillows. They never stop the guests from getting a good sleep. If they did then the hotel would go out of business. So let’s learn a valuable lesson from these hotels and realize that you can have both comfort and style with pillows in the bedroom.

Redecorating Your Children’s Bedroom

July 11, 2010 by Abbie Osborne-Wilson

If you are considering redecorating your child’s room because they have outgrown the theme which the room has currently or if you just want a new look, it can be a lot of fun. If your child is old enough let them help you create their own space. This will give them more pride in their room after it is completed. You may already have a design picked out but if not look around in magazines and online or even in the stores to choose what you are looking to peruse in the rooms decor.

The first thing to do for your renovation to be effective is to remove all the rubbish or clutter from the room. Children tend to keep a lot of waste material may be from craft activities or unwanted books, pencils, torn clothes, broken toys, etc. and even food particles. For this reason the room has to be kept extremely clean. Such activity is better done alone to avoid further delays as involving the children would mean keeping many things that are close to their heart and unimportant.

Wall papering the room is necessary if it has been scribbled on or pictures are stuck or if paint has chipped off. Choosing a color would depend on whether you would want a pink shade for a girl and blue for a boy or may be just a plain one with cartoon characters in different places. Whatever the choice it should be cleanable at the end of the day.

If you are unable to carpet their room with newer, try a great area rug. You can choose one which goes with their design or even one that will just add a punch of color to the decor. Make sure the area rug which you choose is soft and comfortable for them if they sit on the floor to play.

Shelving units are a great idea to place upon the wall if you are unable to purchase a new toy box or book shelf. You’ll be able to use that useless space for something rather than just sitting there bare. Another great item to place into a child’s room would be a chalk board or dry eraser board depending on their age. They’ll get a kick out of this and they can put their minds to work drawling on them!

Don’t be ripped off by imitations. Be sure to buy authentic kids rugs directly.

Whether your child wants to be the latest rock star or they want to explore the jungle you can create a bedroom that your child will love. Their room should be a place that they can go and grow their imaginations. It builds self confidence and self esteem. You can create a great room with these simple tips.

To get started you need your child’s opinion and ideas. Sit down with them and plan what they want in their bedroom. This will make it easier on you.

Music may be the theme you choose. You can start by decorating the walls with musical colors. Then you can add instruments on the wall or make a border out of music notes. You can create sheet music as well. If you have an old guitar, hang it on the wall. Use it as a focal point and add a karaoke stage in the corner of the room for your child to perform.

If a princess lives in your home you want to have a room that is fit for her. A princess themed bedroom is very popular among girls. You can turn the walls into an enchanted forest and place little fairies behind the trees hiding. You can purchase the stencil to create the fairies if you cannot create them on your own. If you have a canopy bed you may want to consider draping a silky material over it in pink shades to give it a princess look. If you don’t have a canopy you can purchase one and add it to any bed.

No matter what theme you choose, every child’s room should have a few important elements. Make sure your child has plenty of room to play and provide adequate storage for toys. A small desk or a table and chairs are great additions to any child’s bedroom. This will give your child a designated place to study or do art work. You should also provide some small furniture for your child’s room. Specialty shops carry tiny chairs and sofas for children as young as two or three years old. Teenagers love inflatable furniture which is a great inexpensive way to add some color and style to a boring space.

Last, make sure you include an area rug in your child’s bedroom design. You can find rugs in every shape, size or color imaginable. You can often find rugs designed specifically for children that are made to match popular themes. Rugs offer a soft place to play or relax and they give a child’s room another element of style and color.

You can decorate a child’s room any way they want it. Your child will love the new look you have created.

Our best hint for Children’s Home Decorating, is to use area rugs – and the kids area rugs will suit any modern furnishings.

Your room should reflect your personality. It is really the greatest representation of you. It should suit your taste and should also make you feel comfortable because this is your last resort. This is the place you go to when you want to relax and forget about the world.

The Right Bed
Buy the right kind of bed for you. Just because a bed is big doesn’t mean it is perfect for you. You need to find out the full size bed measurements on the web. You need to measure your room well and leave enough room for you to move around.

Pillows
Have lots of pillows on your bed and you have to mix the sizes, shape and colors. Those big beds that you see on magazines, they all have lots of pillows. You’ll want to use a mix of pillow sizes and shapes. Start with large pillows closest to the headboard, work smaller as you move forward. Buy the ones that adjust to your head and neck shape too. This will prevent you from having those neck and head pain.

Floor
Aside from a carpet, there is so much more you can put on the floor. You can put some pillows as well or bean bags. Having all of this on the floor will add some dimensions to your room. You can also try and experiment with different carpet colors.

Experiment With The Paint
No one said your wall paint should be monotone. If you are the kind of person who is perky and bubbly why not let that show on your walls. Splash some colors. You can also simply break the monotony by painting everything beige and one side red. Just experiment.

Organize
This is often ignored in many rooms. Make sure to keep out of sight everything that is not necessary to be seen. The key to looking neat is to put away everything that does not need to be seen.
